Default Some fun uses of Nightfall skills!

Ether Phantom -> (Wait for Cast) Web of Disruption -> (Wait for Cast) Shatter Delusion (Triggers Web of Disruption) -> Drain Delusion (Triggers Ether Phantom) !!

Now you enemy get interrupted twice, lose 4 or more energy, take damage, and you gain energy!

Add some more if you like, but please try to be original (just don't be some combo that's on the first page)

Frustration > Web of Disruption > Drain Delusions is nice, too. WoD serves as cover for Frustration, all the while offering 2 interrupts and possibly triggering Frustration 2 times, while Drain Delusions causes the 2nd interrupt and gives you nrg back.

But Frustration > cover (Conjure Phantasm comes to mind) > Psychic Distraction is a winner. You don't need more than 10 points in Domination, and you can max Illusion for higher spike damage from Frustration

I think if you allow inclusion of Core skills (which I believe will be available from skill trainers in Nightfall) you might end up with more combos. You two have about exhausted the available Nightfall only ones.

Thats an awesome little combo that I can't wait to try...

PD was awesome to begin with. Mixed with Frustration, they are taking heavy damage, and having all their spells interupted and disabled for an additional period of time.

The only downfall is all your skills are going to be disabled for 8 seconds... which is a little rough. Still, if you can do the combo once every 15-20 seconds, then I think it would work out nicely.

Nightfall should be interesting. Although Im not really overally impressed with any of the new Mesmer Elites as of yet. Nothing that really catches my eye as something jaw dropping. I thought the same about Factions and the only ones that IMO are useful is Expel Hexes and PD. So I guess we'll see

EDIT: Woops just noticed that this is the mesmer forum, I came into this thread off the front page.
Ummm.. the adrenaline version of Backfire + Sweltering Heat?

---

Sweltering Heat or some of those necro Fury ones + Dragon Slash = +42 damage every hit

I have no idea what you're talking about.

There is some wonderful new skills on the table. Def not elites tho. Sig of Illusions is by far the best looking NF elite and- mind you- not because of its suggested use in Spell Thief builds (which as I have said on many occasions before is ignorable since Spell Thief spells don't have good synergy). It just allows you to use your 2ndary to the maximum when running high Illusion, which might seem kind of situational but I can assure you there is some really nasty builds cooking in there.

I love the addition of Ether Phantom. The only other good cover hex available to Me before was Mind Wrack (good cover hex= non-elite, 5 nrg, 1 cast, low recharge) and that is Domination. Having a perfectly viable and versatile cover hex in Inspiration makes for some interesting combos. Ether Phantom is a natural follow up to skills like Power Leech and Power Flux. Not like EP is going to make these anyhow more useful since they are simply pathetic BUT least they go together nicely.

SPain under GoR seems like massive damage coming from a prof that has always been more subtle about damage dealing. I can see SP being widely used in both PvE and PvP.

My list of skills in NF I look forward to:

Mirror of Disenchantment
Spiritual Pain
Symbolic Celerity
Frustration
Ether Phantom
Sig of Illusions
Web of Disruption

Your talking about visions of regret in the domination line !!! For xx seconds target foes takes xx damage (comparable to backfire damage) when that foe uses an adrenaline skill. Costs 15e, and I think the recharge is pretty nice.

Definitely though, signet of illusions opens up a whole new type of random mesmering. When people see Me/E they will have no idea you actually have obs flame, ward against melee as well as full illusion hex build.

I'm really looking forward to seeing some of the most creative uses of signet of illusion. I really would like an interrupt which steals the spell you interrupt. That would combo with signet of illusions fantastically but we get what we're given i suppose.

I really liked wastrel's demise, because firstly its fantastic for spiking casters ~70 damage 1/4 sec cast, secondly its quite nice pressure over time which on a monk would require self heals which use energy etc etc. Didn't really find any nice combos except for power block, wastrel's worry and wastrel's demise. That was quite nice.

I like the potential of controlling what lvl you cast a spell with Signet of Illusions.
If you want to take advantage of short durations on something use it at lvl 1 and if you want to use it in it's normal capacity, use SOI right before.
Also Arcan Mimicry an Elite spell from one of your Heros and SOI it.
It'll be my Elite of choice for evar!

SoI allows for some extreeeeeeeeemely versatile looking skill bars. You can get as many skills as you want. Long as you have enough points in Illusion and use something like Symbolic Celerity to speed up the Sig use (recharge is fine), you can pretty much take things for as many attributes as you desire. I think this is amazing.

Yea...Ether Phantom is a great cover hex. You actually lose more energy when it's removed prematurally.

Actually thats a really good point. I was trying to think of a good way to get the casting time of that Signet increased (since FC does nothing) and Symbolic Celerity is a great idea. The only problem is you are almost using it just for the purpose of SoI but that may not be that bad of a thing. What is really cool is SoI mixed with some of the Ele's skills could be VERY Dangerous. You could even make a viable Obs Flame/nuker build with Fast Casting and having the full 16 attribute for heavy damage. Should be fun.

Anyone had thoughts of a SoI skillbar yet.
This was what I've come up with so far

1. Signet of Illusions
2. Obsidian Flame
3. Arcane Conudrum
4. Images of Remorse
5. Power Leak
6. Inspired Hex
7. Inspired Enchantment/Revealed Hex
8. Res

Seems a bit random probably. How much can one mesmer actually do ?
You could infact take revealed and inspired hex and totally use someone's own hex heavy build against them.

Anyone else had any thoughts ?

Yea...why no arcane thievery? and it's dupe skill?
They fills the 8 slots perfectly

1. Rez Sig
2. SoI
3. Arcane Larceny
4. Arcane Thievery
5. Inspired Enchantment
6. Inspired Hex
7. Revealed Enchantment
8. Revealed Hex

... because Arcane Thevery and Larceny steal the same skill almost always if used on the same target. Because carrying 2 ench removers and 2 hex removers is overkill. Because this gives no real direction of your build- it accomplishes nothing but being funky and unpredictable. And because some of us tried it and had fun with it but realized the above. I think ANet misled us to believe SoI should be used with these skills when- in fact- SoI is much more potent in helping create a skill bar that requires nothing more than 16 points in Illusion and the rest split between FC and whatever else. THIS is the true value of SoI, not going for a chaotic and wasteful (nevertheless fun) build.

Why did they mislead us about SoI and thievery skills? Probably for the same reasons they misled people into thinking a PvP warrior with Healing Hands was a good idea.

It's an RPG so they need to play on that RPG sensibility to draw in players from that market. Stealing someone else's spells and using it against them sounds cool, and in RP terms it fits with the concept of the mesmer class. Powergamers aren't as concerned about that, so they'll use it in whichever way it's most effective. Thus, Anet can appeal to both crowds.

Since we're talking fun and unpredictability, I assume, rather than functionality, let's have arcane mimicry in there too. heheh.

In all seriousness tho, this skill totally pumps up the PvE mes. You'll still need to keep most of your skills as Illusion ones, but if you're a secondary ele, you can actually use spells from all the 4 elements or with secondary monk you can run Aegis, prot spirit, healing seed, vig spirit, etc. A good number of possibilities to be sure. Won't help much with spam type skills like flare, but will be nice in conjuction with longer cooldown spells.

Another possibility is the ability to use other proffesions primary attribute spells at maxiumum effect.
The only problem is that SoI takes up your elite spot which means you cant use it on any elite skills unless you use mimicry which isn't practical with its 60 second recharge.

I just love the possibilities SoI opens up for the profession. I think it's def one of the best Me elites because of the versatility it gives the already most versatile prof in the game. Too bad SoI is this lone beacon in a bunch of worthless new elites.

I want to try this for fun someday.

1. Rez Sig
2. SoI
3. Auspacious Incantation
4. Arcane Thievery
5. Inspired Enchantment
6. Inspired Hex
7. Arcane Echo
8. Arcane Mimicry

Then I'll name that character. 'What class am I' or 'MeWANDPRERtMoP'
